Laura Arlisia Drewry, 17, of 585 Laurel St., died Saturday, April 2, 1994.

Laura was born in Franklin and was a senior at Franklin High School. She also was attending the Governor's Magnet School in Norfolk and was planning to attend Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C. this fall. Laura was a former member of the Franklin High School Varsity Softball Team, D.E.C.A. and a former member of the Cadet Band. Laura was a former recipient of the Franklin High School Outstanding Achievement Award in Art.

Survivors include her parents, Elliott B. and Phyllis Babb Drewry of the residence; one sister, Angela C. Drewry of Franklin; and a paternal grandfather, McKinley Drewry of Franklin.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 1994, in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Sharon James and the Rev. Reginald Warren. The burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and suggest memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.
