Matthew Clair West
Matthew Clair West, 18, of 942 Maple, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1987, in an automobile accident.

He was born Dec. 11, 1968, in Ogden, the Son of Clair E. and LaRee Best West.
He graduated in June from Ogden High School where he was a National Merit semi-finalist, a member of the Academic
Decathlon Team, and a Sterling Scholar nominee in industrial arts. He was planning to attend the University of Utah this fall on an Honors at Entrance Scholarship.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal and woodworking, four wheeling, and restoring automobiles.
He was an Eagle Scout.
An active Priest in the Ogden 34th LDS Ward, he held various leadership and scout positions.
He received his Sons of Helaman Exploring Award and Duty to God Award, as well as other church awards.
Surviving are his parents of Ogden, three sisters, Mrs. Randall (Kelley) Dodge, Melanie West, Camille West, all of Ogden.
Also surviving is his grandmother, Mrs. Richard S. (Yvonne) Best of Farr West.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden with Bishop James Dawson officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
