Della E. Dretske, age 86, of Berlin, died peacefully on Sunday afternoon September 21, 2008 at the Juliette Manor Nursing Home of Berlin.

She was born on June 1, 1922 in the Town of Richford, Waushara County, the daughter of Albert and Lena (Groskreutz) Dehling.

She was baptized and confirmed at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Richford by Rev. O.L. Messerschmidt.

Della was educated at the East Richford Grade School and was a graduate of the Wautoma High School.

She was united in married to James Cutts from 1941 to 1951, and then married Arnold Dretske on June 12, 1953 at Emmaus Lutheran Church of Poy Sippi by Rev. C.H. Clausing.

They owned a dairy farm north of Poy Sippi until the fall of 1967 when they moved to Berlin.

Della was employed by the Berlin Memorial Hospital in the Obstetrics Dept. for 17 years. She was also a residential instructor at Seneca House, a group home for developmentally disabled women at Fairburn west of Berlin. Also a people greeter at Berlin Wal-Mart in the Green Tree Mall from 1991 to 2003 and then retired.

She is a faithful member of Saint John Lutheran Church of Berlin. She was instrumental in organizing the Lutheran Women's Missionary League in the area. Served on local, zone, and district levels including, Zone President, Retreat Chairman and the district Mission Education Director and Mission Services Chairman. Active member of Lutheran Missions Attic Workshop of Hales Corners, Wi., Lutheran Bible Translators (L.B.T.), Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots (LAMP) and other organizations in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (L.C.M.S.) that promote missions, and a longtime member of the Home Testing Institute.

Survivors include, Daughters, Dorothy Jodarski of Kaukauna, Vale0rie (Allen) Sonju of Cascade, Mary Becker of Berlin, daughter-in-law, Suzanne Cutts of Berlin, Sons, Victor (Jean) Dretske of Berlin, Donald (Donna) Dretske of Berlin, Carl (Anna) Dretske of Stratford, Texas, George (Karen) Cutts of Wautoma, Glen (Diane) Cutts of Ripon, John Dretske of Bloomington, Mn., 30 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold on January 12, 2005, sons, James Harvey Cutts Jr. in 1991, Mark Evan Dretske in 1993, and brothers, Gaylord and Arthur Dehling.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 11 a.m. from Saint John Lutheran Church of Berlin with the Pastor Bryan Lundquist officiating with burial in the Brushville Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., a luncheon and fellowship with the family was held immediately after the service.
