David Dillinger enlisted August 5, 1861 as a private in Co. D, 36th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Later promoted to corporal. Killed in the Battle of Cedar Creek.

Some of the casualty records incorrectly list his first name as Daniel and the name on the headstone is incorrect as well.
