Matha Opal Uphold Teets, 94, Friendsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, in Oakland Nursing & Rehab Center (formerly Cuppett & Weeks), Oakland.
Born Jan. 3, 1911, in Friendsville, she was the daughter of the late Lafayette and Margaret (Riley) Uphold. She was also preceded by her first husband, Oscar Uphold and her second husband, Lester Teets; six sons, Willard, Carlos, Donald, John, Carroll, and Vernon Uphold; two daughters, Frances and Carolyn Uphold; and three sisters, two brothers, and one grandson. She was the last surviving member of her family.
She was a member of the Laurel Run Church of God and was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Danny Uphold, Accident, and Arthur "Ike" Uphold, Oakland; one daughter, Ruth Wilson, Oakland; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her extended family at the Oakland Nursing and Rehab Center.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, today, Thursday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery.
