George A. Bridgewater was a son of James Ewers Bridgwater and Nancy Jane Smith who moved from Kentucky to Illinois in 1848. The family later moved to Taylor Co., Iowa where George was married in 1880 to Margaret Ellen "Maggie" Freeman who was born about 1862 in Indiana. George died from heart failure on 10 May 1923 near Buffalo, N. Benton Twp., Dallas Co., Missouri, and was buried three days later in Oak Lawn Cemetery. George and Maggie had the following known children: Leona A. "Ona" Bridgewater, married William R. Rush; Nancy E. T. Bridgewater, married Harvey Johnson; Mary Estella Bridgewater, married Robert Martin Bartholow and later a Mr. Strickland; Jennie L. Bridgewater, married William J. Dowell; Golda Margarette Bridgewater, married William Evan Strickland; and Glenn Leonard Bridgewater, married Nancy Lillie Julian.
