Christopher Gene Aiken, 38, of Thousand Oaks, died unexpectedly in the recent tragic Metrolink accident on Sept. 12, 2008.

Chris was born in Lockport, N.Y. He grew up in Gasport, N.Y., along the Erie Canal, where he loved to fish and spend time with his friends. He graduated from Royalton-Hartland Central School in 1988. He loved the Buffalo Bills even after moving to California and watched their games whenever possible. Chris moved to California after high school and has lived mainly in the Conejo Valley since.

Chris worked for Aramark in Burbank, Calif., as a senior injury coordinator. He had a great group of people he worked with who made his job a place he enjoyed going to work each day. Chris was working toward his college degree studying history, one of his great loves.

Chris will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Chris had a love for life and he touched so many lives. Chris was loved by his family, great friends, his work family, his metro buddies and his volleyball buddies. Wherever Chris went, he had a way of bringing life and humor to the world. He had a saying for everything and could throw out a one-liner at the drop of a hat.

Chris enjoyed life in the fullest. He loved to camp, hike and work in the yard and had a love of nature. You could find Chris sitting on the patio watching the birds and hummingbirds, listening to sports radio. Chris had a love for all sports, especially hockey and football. Even though Chris has lived in California for numerous years, his favorite teams were the Buffalo Bills football team and the Sabres, Buffalo hockey team. Sunday was his day for sports and that was OK, because Chris was such a hard worker the rest of the week. Chris also enjoyed playing volleyball locally and met some great people while playing a few times a week.

One of Chris's favorite things to do was spend time with his family and friends. Chris loved to go back home to Gasport to visit his family and share his childhood memories. Chris was known as the "Barbecue King," and there wasn't anything Chris could not cook on the barbecue. He enjoyed the game nights we had with our friends where he could cook and spend time with some of the greatest people in the world. Chris and his wife are two of the most fortunate people in the world by being surrounded and loved by so many people, especially their wonderful friends, Lara and Ed Cossentine of Moorpark, Katharine and Mike Graczyk of Newbury Park, George Ochoa of Simi Valley and Bob Frueh of New Jersey, Stacey Beaman and Mark Berry of Newbury Park, Cynde Fytvoye and Erich Bieber of Newbury Park, Monica and Paul Lichtenstein of Thousand Oaks, Pilar and Juan Carlos Velasquez of Simi Valley, Michele and Kevin Clark of Newbury Park, Jim Desio of Agoura, Amy and David Horton of Santa Maria, as well as all his wonderful friends at Adelphia/TimeWarner.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Aiken, twin stepdaughters, Samantha and Kaitlin Trevett, who fulfilled his dream of being a parent. He is also survived by his father and mother, Roy and Donna Aiken of Gasport; brother Shaun and his wife Keri of Gasport; brother Heath and wife Jennifer of Philadelphia, Pa.; nephew Zackery Aiken of Middleport and niece Amber Aiken of Gasport; his aunt Debbie Secrist of Gasport; aunt Mid Snyder of Lockport; uncle Douglas and aunt Kelly Griffith of Middleport; uncle David and aunt Cindy of New Jersey; grandmother Patte Griffith of Lockport; aunts Becky and Cheri; and grandmother Agnes Aiken of West Palm Beach, Fla.; aunt Mary Ann Ryan of Washington; many cousins; in-laws, Fern and Jay Levine; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Meiser and husband David, and nephew Matthew and niece Andilyn; brother-in-law, Larry Levine and wife Robin, nieces Alisa and Carissa and nephew Andrew; his first wife, Sandra Aiken, and Ted Berry of Long Beach.

Chris, you are my soul mate, the love of my life. My heart will forever be lost without you. I miss you so much. We were so blessed to have you in our lives. You were the most enduring husband and the best father two girls could ever have. Samantha and Kaitlin were so very lucky to have such a wonderful man and role model in their lives. I was so blessed to have you , but I will forever ask WHY you were taken from us after just a short time. We know you are in Heaven looking down on us and in our Hearts forever. We love you , your forever wife, Sharon, and daughters Samantha and Kaitlin.
