John Lee Felker was born on Sep. 16, 1954 in Roswell, NM, the second child of Eddie and Pat Felker. His mother remarried when he was 8 and he rarely saw his father, which he reflected in his poetry later in his life. He spent 2 years in the Army during the Vietnam Era, most of them as a jump instructor in Fort Benning, GA. His second wife Billie was his true love, as was their son Johnny Lee. He published a book of poetry called "Blue Jeans and Black Dreams" sometime in his late twenties. John spent most of his life in the DFW area, where he was affectionatley known as "Big John" (for his 6'6", 250+ stature) and ran a neighborhood "sports bar" out of his garage. His house was the site of many great Halloween parties, something he was quite known for. He passed away from a heart attack on Oct. 19,1996, only 4 months after his father had passed.
