Drowning Victim Buried Sunday In Surgoinsville

The body of a former Surgoinsville man found near Havre de Grace, Md., Wednesday, March 6, after he had been missing since November, was returned Saturday to Surgoinsville for funeral services and burial.

James H. Anderson fell into the Susquehanna River last Nov. 11 while working on an expressway bridge over the Susquehanna. The expressway is to be new U.S. 40.

The body was found washed ashore on Tydings Park Island in the Susquehanna near Harve de Grace.

Anderson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bobbie Anderson; a son Earl, and a daughter, Peggy; all of Baltimore; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Byington; foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Mauk; two half-sisters and two half-brothers, all of Surgoinsville.

Funeral services were held Sunday morning at 10 o'clock from the Longs Bend Baptist Church. The Rev. Grady Byrd officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
