Catherine M. Taylor, 82, of Monmouth and formerly of Jacksonville died Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at her residence. She was born March 28, 1926 in Jacksonville the daughter of James J. and Rose R. Hobbs O'Connell. She married Lawrence E. Taylor on November 4, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1995.

She is survived by one son, Lawrence E. (wife, Mary) Taylor, Jr. of Surprise, AZ; two daughters, Rose Mary (husband, David) Mathers of North Henderson and Catherine C. "Cathy" Taylor of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James J. O'Connell and George T. O'Connell .

Mrs. Taylor had worked for the City of Jacksonville as a clerk in the Water Department and later for the Illinois Secretary of State's Office in Springfield in the Micro-Graphics Department. She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour.

Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
