Soralla was in isolation at the South Los Angeles Animal Care Center, and she was very sick with an upper respiratory infection. Soralla was only 9 years old, and as a Maltese, should have had plenty of good years in her. Unfortunately, it appears as though she had been very neglected by the person who dumped her in the shelter--she was an owner surrender. This often happens when someone can't afford to pay for medical care. Obviously, if she had been properly cared for during her life, she would have been in better shape. Staff had very kindly put Soralla in her own big run by herself with a nice soft bed, and were doing everything they could to make her comfortable. Soralla was not adopted and was euthanized for medical reasons September 8, 2008.
