Hazel M. Parks, age 85, of 104 Oakmeadow Road, Mooresville, N.C. and formerly of Anawalt, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2008 in a Mooresville hospital.

Born on March 12, 1923 in Austinville, Va., she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Minnie Frazier Dean. She had been a resident of Mooresville for 18 years where she made her home with her daughter, Teresa Anstine, son-in-law, George Anstine and granddaughter, Dawn Anstine.

She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lee Parks; two brothers, Cloyd and Henry Dean; and three sisters, Clara Alley, Annie Casey, and Naomi Williams. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include: Sons, Garnet Parks and wife Racquel of New York, John Parks and wife Sandra of Pennsylvania, Ted Parks and wife Sheree of Virginia, Michael Parks and wife Pauletta of Ohio; daughters, Liz Sparks and husband Charles of North Carolina, Zina Miller and husband Nick of Virginia, Joan Miller and husband Kenneth of West Virginia, Jean Ellison and husband Doug of Virginia, Teresa Anstine and husband George of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where George Anstine, Nick, Nicky, and Johnny Miller, and Ted and John Parks will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Monday (today) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Parks family.
