Frederick C. Heinen beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather passed away Monday, August 25, 2008 at his Reno home surrounded by his loved ones. Fred was born September 3, 1918 in Freeport, IL to Anna and Clemens Heinen. He moved to Reno in January of 1932. He was a Reno High School Alumni, Class of '38. He attended the University of Nevada before enlisting in the Army and serving in the infantry during W.W.II. He went on to become an engineer for Sierra Pacific Power Company where he worked for over 37 years.

Fred was involved in many professional and civic organizations. He was past president of Nevada Alpha chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He was very active in North Reno Kiwanis where he received many "Kiwanian of the Year" awards. He was a member of National Association of Corrosion Engineers and Reno Elks Lodge #597. He volunteered many hours with the Nevada Area Council, Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement and the United Way.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret; sister, Sister Bede, OP; brother, Emerson; son, Gary; daughter, Nancy Deal (Tim); grandsons, Chris and Brian Deal; nephew, David; nieces, Marilyn and Roselle.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008 at Walton's Sierra Chapel, 875 West Second Street, Reno. Entombment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Nevada Area Council, Boy Scouts 1745 South Wells Ave. Reno, 89502.
