Eddie was born in New York City 86 years ago. He fell in love with Millie Tokach when she was 16. They married several years later when he was on a three day shore leave from the Navy. They were married for 64 years. He and Millie loved dancing, big band music, old movies and the Yankees. Eddie served on the battleship South Dakota in the South Pacific during W.W.II. He later worked as a longshoreman retiring with 30 years of service. He volunteered as a fireman and was VP of the Hicksville Little League in Long Island. Eddie and Millie moved to Reno in 1991.
Fireman First Class (F1/C) Farrell enlisted in the US Navy on 23 January 1942 and served during WWII until his discharge on 16 February 1945. He was assigned to the Battleship USS South Dakota BB57 on 23 March 1942 and served in the 3 and MA Divisions.

Eddie is survived by his wife and children; Arleen O'Connell (Robert), Nancy Fiero (Todd), Gordon Farrell (Suzanne Francisco Farrell), Anne Farrell, James Farrell (Karen); grand- children, Joseph Anzalone, Melissa Milligan (Steve), Gregory Fiero, Madison Farrell, Miranda Farrell, James Vincent Farrell and Alexa Farrell and great-grandchild Cameron Milligan plus numerous nieces and nephews including the family of Carol and Ted Moore of Reno.

Visitation will be August 28, from 2 -7 p.m. at Ross, Burke, and Knobel, 2155 Kietzke Lane. A funeral mass will be held August 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Therese Church of the Little Flower, 875 E. Plumb Lane. Interment will be at Pinelawn National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York. Donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans 1201 Terminal Way Reno, NV 89502.
