After being honorably discharged from the Army he returned home where he married his junior high school sweetheart, Darriel Bart. They settled in the Reno area to raise their children; Jay and Ray Block. Nolan provided for his family as one of the areas best carpet and flooring installers. He was a lifetime Masters of the NRA, he loved fishing, camping, golfing and spending time with his family, extended family and many friends. Nolan was a great jokester too and had a very contagious laugh; one that those who knew him will never forget.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother, Jack Block and a sister, Margie Kurtz. He is survived by his loving wife, Darriel; sons, Jay (Andrea) and Ray (Laureen); granddaughter, Mindy Block; brother, Wayland (Kelly) Block; sisters, Norma and Naomi, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Chapel, 427 Stoker Ave. (inside of Mountain View Cemetery). The final disposition will be at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, NV. In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be made to the Nevada Diabetes Association, 1005 Terminal Way, Ste. 170, Reno, NV 89502. Arrangements have been entrusted to Final Wishes Funeral Home.
