Born May 10, 1917 in Salibury, NC, she is a daughter of William Andrew Shuping and Mary Ann Sapp Shuping. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 66 years, James Cecil “Mike” Bame and her son, Larry Cecil Bame.
Mrs. Bame is survived by her children, Alice Joanne Bame Graham, Eloise Bame Walker and her husband Peter, and Suzanne Bame Brandon and her husband Carter; her grandchildren, Sheryl Graham Moody, Mary Ann Graham, William D. Graham, Jr., Melissa Bame Miller, Jeffrey Todd Bame, Jay Webster, Cecil Webster, Faith Webster Johnson, Alysia B. Mounteer, Carrie Carpenter and Dot B. Brown; and her 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bame was raised on a farm in Salisbury where she helped with all aspects of the farm before she moved to the beach in 1938. She was a charter member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Carolina Beach where she was active with United Methodist Women. She was an integral factor in the success of her husband’s enterprises, always helping out when needed.
In her leisure, she enjoyed playing rummy and bingo. Every Sunday she attended the chapel service held at Jordan Oaks in Cary.
Her family will remember her as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 300 Harper Ave, Carolina Beach NC, 28428. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:00 am Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
