Private Josiah Grove Huggins, a cabinet maker from West Chester; enlisted at age 39 on Sept. 21, 1861, for 3 yrs.; in Company E, 97th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry . He died of yellow fever in the General Hospital at Hilton Head, S. C, on Nov. 1, 1862. On November 3, the Regiment moved inside the entrenchments, to near the spot where it first encamped in 1861. The health of the men seemed to improve after this.
