His minor children George F. and Emma are petitioning for their father's pension. John A. Dill served as a private Co. H. 8 Maine Vols. from Androscoggin County, Maine. The applicants were in Lewiston.

He died on July 15 1863 in Beufort, SC of Typhoid

George F. was born Dec 25 1848 and Emma was born April 6 1842. The mother was divorced from John on Oct 11, 1860.
The guardian of the children is Sewall Merrill of Lewiston appointed Sept 1863

The marriage of John A. Dill and Sarah Grapham on July 3 1843 in Lowell. They both resided in Lowell.

There is a document saying that Sarah Dill was the libellant in a divorce granted in Oct 11 1860 and that custody of Rufus and Emma Dill, minors was given to the mother. No order was given as to the custody of the other children but it was subject to the future order of the court.
