Rita Lester, 17, died last Wednesday afternoon at Bethesda North Hospital as the result of a swimming mishap May 20 in the Little Miami River at Foster.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lester, 9081 Columbia Rd. She was a senior at Kings High School, class vice president, varsity cheerleader captain, queen of the 1974 Ohio Honey Festival, and queen of the junior-senior prom.
A native of Boone County, Ky., she moved to Warren County with her family when she was in the sixth grade.
She is survived by her parents, a brother, Steven, and a sister, Theresa.
Services were held Saturday, which would have been her 18th birthday, at Tufts Funeral Home in Loveland. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason.
