Lifelong Anchorage resident WINIFER B. RIXTER, 25, died Dec. 20, 2002, at home after a short illness. Visitation was held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel downtown, followed by a celebration of life with the Rev. Guy Johnson officiating. A private family graveside service was held at a later date at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ms. Rixter was born Aug. 22, 1977, in Anchorage. ''Winifer was a very devoted mother to her children. She loved family activities such as barbecues, picnics, birthday parties and traveling. She enjoyed many sports including snowboarding, sledding, bowling, playing pool and played on the 1995 East High basketball team. She was especially proud of her new career at the YMCA,'' her family said. Ms. Rixter was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Edna Rixter and Cecilia Chikigak, and father, John Rixter Jr.

She is survived by her children, Domonique Rixter and Antonio Brown; mother, Winifred ''Wini'' Chikigak; ''dad,'' Jerry Strong; all of Anchorage; brothers, Thomas L. Chikigak of Alakanuk, and John and Jedwin Rixter of Anchorage; grandmother of her children, Shirley Brown Hatcher; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and lifelong friends, Kareena Goudeaux and Jaima Salud. In lieu of flowers, a fund will be established for Winifer's children. Donations can be made in care of Winifred Chikigak, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, Account No. 289326. Arrangements were with Evergreen Memorial Chapel downtown.
