WALTER⁴ CHRISTIAN NELSEN, (Christian³, Nels² Nelsen, Casper¹ Nielsen)

WALTER CHRISTIAN NELSEN (69 yrs) was born Sept. 14, 1914 Kenmare, ND; died Oct. 13, 1983 Crosby ND)He was the fourth of 10 children (Ezra (twin), Helen Louise, Anna Christina (twin) , Walter, Alice, Arthur, Robert, Anna Marguerite, Kenneth) born to Anne Elizabeth Christensen and Christian Nelsen of Kenmare, Ward Co. ND.

He married on April 14, 1938 to MAUDE EDNA HAY b. Dec. 18, 1914 in Crosby, ND d. Mar. 11, 1998 daughter of Andrew Hay and Mary Cameron.

Walter graduated from Kenmare High School in 1932. He then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD to learn about running a creamery. He moved to Crosby in 1935. From 1935-1972 he was employed by the Power Creamery on Main Street in Crosby, ND. Upon retirement Walter purchased water truck and started his own business of hauling spring water for the Port of Entry Boarder Stations between Canada and the U.S.

Walter was always interested in sports. In his early years he played softball, baseball and basketball. He was a referee for Crosby High School basketball games. In the winter he curled. Walt was very active in the Volunteer Fire Department serving as Fire Chief for many years. He was on Crosby's city council as an alderman.

Walt was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Crosby, ND. He was a charter member of the Moose Lodge. Walt and Maude had three children.
