When Corlies "Curl" Howland and his twin sister Maria Jane were born on April 28, 1888, in Sea Bright, New Jersey, their father, Pvt. Jesse Addison "Squire", was 41 and their mother, Maria, was 38. He married Lydia May "Alida" Johnson on March 8, 1908, in Asbury Park, New Jersey. They had two children during their marriage. He died on March 25, 1962, in Asbury Park, New Jersey, at the age of 73, and was buried in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

ASBURY PARK--Curlies Howland 75, of 506 Asbury Ave., died yesterday at Fitkin Hospital, Neptune.

Mr. Howland was a retired contractor. He was born in Sea Bright and was a lifelong Shore area resident. He was an exempt Sea Bright Fireman.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lydia (Johnson) Howland; a son Curlies J., Spring Lake Heights; a daughter Mrs. Valerie (Howland) Heffelfinger, Spring Lake; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The J. Henry Dangler Funeral Home, Belmar, is in charge of arrangements.
