Charles was a graduate of Indiana State University, and a Charter Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He was employed by Naval Avionics, Eli Lilly & Company, the United States Postal Service, and the Indianapolis Public School System as a teacher. Charles is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Hill Anderson; one daughter, Paulette Washington; two grandchildren, Breon Washington, and Brandi Washington.
