TO A DEAR ONE WHO IS GONE DELTON TRUETT ROBERTS

You are missed my Dearest Brother
You are missed by one and all
It still seems you must answer
whenever to you we still call.

To me you were life's guide and prop
and anchor to hold on to fast
The last link to family ties
and memories of childhood's past.
One prayer is that you did know
without a chance of my telling you so
that my affections were still and deep
even tho' outwardly it might not show.

Those material things left your loved ones here
I know you often prayed twould be betterh
but Oh My Brother, you were so rich
as attested now by flowers, notes and letter.
You were rich in sterling character
the love of family and friends,
your devotion here to all things right
on which true happiness depends.
For one who lived as you did live
by that wonderful "Golden Rule"
the deeds you've done and pleasures given
they'll just keep unrolling now as thread from a spool.
It's hard to think that your loving face
now in this world is forever still
But you're waiting "There," your loved ones to meet
And God Grant that someday we will.

Yes, you will be missed, Dear Brother
but in your stead will have to come a deep glow
for just having been loved by one like you
your loved ones hearts must broaden and grow.
