Frank Sr. served in the Civil War, enlisting as a Quartermaster Sergeant on 18 February 1864 in Company H, 1st Cavalry Regiment Wisconsin on 18 February 1864. Mustered out Company H, 1st Cavalry Regiment Wisconsin on 19 July 1865 in Edgefield, TN.
Frank lived for many years with the family of his son Frank Jr.
