William "Willie" Quick is the son of David Nelson Quick (1829-1864) and Mary Ann Hamilton (1834-1915). His father David, died in New Market, Tenn. during his service in the Civil War.

William's mother Mary Ann, married a second time to James G. Lynch, in 1865. William loved his new father James, and the family moved to Michigan after the War. Willie schooled near the Lynch family home in Jackson County, Michigan. The family moved again, to Leonardville, in Riley County, Kansas in 1870.

William later met Sarah Appletrad, daughter of August and Christian Appletrad, in Riley County, where her family resided in Leonardville. She was born in 1861 in Sweden and the family immigrated around 1864. William and Sarah married in 1885 and had at least six children. They raised their children in Leonardville, and were life long residents. William died in Leonardville in 1927, and Sarah died in 1936.
