Graveside services for Carol Jean (Black) Chapman, 69, will be at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 13, 2008, in Belleville-Bourland Cemetery with Bro. Ronnie Carroll officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Ringling.
Born Oct. 22, 1938, in Courtney to P.D. and Minnie Pearl (Carnahan) Black, she departed this life Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, on May 6, 1966; her mother, on March 14, 1991; one infant daughter, Carla Collece Chapman, in 1957; and a brother, Billy Joe Watkins, on Nov. 8, 1992.
Carol was a resident of Courtney most of her life where she was raised and attended school. She married L.J. Chapman, on Oct. 31, 1953, in Gainesville, Texas. They resided for a short while in Ardmore, returning to Courtney in 1970.
She was always a very devoted homemaker and very loving mother to her children and a loving "Ma Ma" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; three daughters, Cindi and husband, Dr. Jim Rose, Ringling, Tammy Holder and husband, Dennis, Chickasha, and Shelly Milson and husband, Larry, Ardmore; one son, Larry Chapman, Courtney; grandchildren, Roy Branch and wife, Courtney, Kimmie Wilson and husband, Bo'don, Summer Phelps and husband, Jason, Courtney Branch and Chuck Baird, and Cody Rose; step-grandchildren, Kari Sanchez, Amy Milson, Chris Holder, Casey Holder and Candace Holder; great-grandchildren, Colton Branch, Kinsey Branch, Justtice Wilson, Mekenzie Sanchez, Braden Holder and Matthew Baird; and a brother, Gale Black and wife, Charlene, Courtney.
Bearers will be Roy Branch, Cody Rose, Chris Holder, Bo'don Wilson, Chuck Baird and Jason Phelps. Honorary bearers will be Harvey Grant, Tankie Spivey, Jimmy Dodson, Robby Dodson and Denver Weatherly.
