After his graduation, he worked with the Civilian Public Service and spent time in the Rocky Mountains doing geological surveys. Upon his return, he attended Manchester College and Purdue University before joining the family's greenhouse business.
On June 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Eloise B. Blackwood. The made their home in Columbia City, later moving to Wolf Road. Mrs. Frank died October 19, 2006. Co-Owner and Operator of H.R. Frank and Sons Greenhouse, he also was a local weather forecaster for WFDT radio, a Whitley County Commissioner and served on the Whitley County Council.
From 1986 to 1995, he was the Executive Director of the Columbia City Chamber of Commerce. A founding member of Columbia City Church of the Brethren, he also served as a Deacon. He was a past member of the Columbia City Rotary Club.
He is survived by four children, Mary "Marisa" Frank, Fort Wayne, David (Jennifer) Frank, Martha (James) Kreider and Samuel (Ann) Frank, all of Columbia City; nine grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Ardeth Frank. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Wilson, Marcus, Hugh, Marion and Dale Frank and three sisters, Evelyn Frank, Alice Frank and Amy McKinney.
