I'm not sure of his date of birth. I have found it in various records to be either 1848, 1850, or 1851.
Obit - "Thomas Hill, Sr. an old and highly respected citizen died at his home, near Barryville on Monday, Mar. 16, after a long illness.
Mr. Hill was born in England, January 19, 1851, coming to this country with his parents at the age of ten years and settled in Barryville, where he followed the occupation of farming. At the time of his death, he was 75 years of age.
He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Sergeant, of Eldred, and had he lived until next September, he and his wife would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
The surviving relatives are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. James Crowe, Mrs. Myron Carpenter of this city, and Mrs. George Eldred of Middletown; six sons, Walter of Binghamton, Alvin and John of Eldred; Thomas, Matthew, and William of Barryville; and 19 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Congregational Church at 2pm on Wednesday and were conducted by Rev. John I. Bennett, pastor of the church."
