Robert Martin Fitzpatrick, 70, of Hinton, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, in Summers County A.R.H. in Hinton following a courageous fight against a long illness. Born Sept. 22, 1937, at Brooks, he was the son of the late Martin Michael and Ida Mae Meadows Fitzpatrick. Bob was an veteran of the United States Air Force and was a former conductor for the C&O Railway Company in Hinton, retiring with 30 years of service. In his earlier years, he had worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways and was an agent for Prudential Insurance Agency. In the early '70s, he also owned Bellepoint Esso in Bellepoint, and was a volunteer firefighter for a number of years. He had been a past member of the Jaycees men's organization during a time when they were responsible for many civic projects, including the creation of the Summers County Hospital.
