She was united in marriage to Floyd E. Slocum of Redfild, Illinois on the 12th day of November 1938. Ms. Slocm was a graduate of Redfield High School in 1936. She worked for the Redfield Post Office as a substitute and as a reporter for the Redfield Review, until she married. After marrying, she and Floyd lived on a farm, just southwest of Redfield.
In 1956, she started working in Des Moines, Iowa at the "LOOK" magazine; as a subscription clerk. After 20 years, she retird and remained in Redfield, Iowa, until 1980, when she and Floyd moved to Mena, Arkansas.
Floyd died on the 29th day of August, 1984. Ms. Slocum continued to live in her home ont Ouachita Circle until 2008, when her failing health made it necessary for her to move to Mena Manor Nursing Home. She lived there until April 2008. She then moved to Rich Mountain Nursing Home in Mena.
Ms. Slocum was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers: Claude, Oren, and Caryl.
A host of friends and neighbors mourned her passing.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Beaseley-Wood Funeral Chapel. Brother David McCord officiated the service.
