Douglas Lee Bown, age 74, of Fayette, passed away on August 1, 2008 at Gunnison Valley Hospital in Gunnison.

He was born April 5, 1934 in Gunnison, Utah, a son of Elton Clen and Clara Matilda Hill Bown. He married Louise Lorentzen on May 25, 1956 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were later divorced. Doug has been a rancher and farmer all his life. He was involved in the ranch up until the time of his death. Doug has been a great father, grandfather and friend to all. Some of his fondest memories were hauling sheep with his friend Weldon Johnson. Doug also enjoyed numerous trips to Mexico with his friend Kent Mellor. Doug cherished his children and grandchildren and the good times they had. We would like to thank Doug for all of the great things he has taught us and bestowed in each and every one of us. There is a little piece of Doug that will live on in each and every one of us and as Doug Bown would say, "A Fool Tells All".

He is survived by his children: Patti Bown and Bruce Mitchell of Kamas, UT; Paul and Lynn Bown of Centerfield; John and Marti Bown of Fayette; seven grandchildren: Crystal, Lila, William, Waylon, Dillon, Katelyn and Seth Bown; sister, Pat and Joe Spransey of Parker, Colorado. He is preceded in death by two brothers: Cecil Bown and Junior Bown and an infant daughter, Laurie Ann Bown.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fayette LDS Ward Chapel, where Friends may call for a Viewing on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Fayette Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
