James and Lela met in her hometown when he was employed by a friend of the family. They married on December 21, 1945, after Jim's enlistment in the US Army was up. He had served as a Staff Sargent during WWII.
To this union, 4 children were born. He was employed as a Draftsman, which required traveling. Eventually, they purchased a home in Ephrata, Washington where he resided until his passing of a heart attack.
