Rose A. Mayes, 83, of Blanchard, formerly of Monument, died at 12:33 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 1994, in the Lock Haven extended care unit. Born in Kato, Feb. 19, 1910, she was the daughter of J.B and Ellen Smith Shope. She was a member of the Monument Church of Christ. She was a former employee of the Lock Haven Hospital and the former Sylvania Electric Company of Mill Hall. She retired as a Lock Haven University cafeteria cook in 1973. Surviving are a companion, Paul E. Girton of Blanchard; four daughters, Minnie Mann of Beech Creek, Deanna Ball of Flemington, Bernice Welch and Cheryl McCombs, both of Mill Hall. Also three sons, Paul Mayes of Flemington, Willard Mayes of Lock Haven and Arthur Mayes of Dover Del.; one sister, Nancy Heverly of Monument, one brother David Shope of Farwell; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
NOTE:Rose Anna Shope divorced Edward Forest Washburn. She later married Willis Willard Mayes.

Willis Willard Mayes and Mrs. Rose Ann Shope, both of Mill Hall, were united in marriage last Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by T. Mark Brungard at his office.
