WILLIAM A JACOBS, SR, 88, RETIRED BUSINESSMAN
William A. Jacobs Sr, 88, a retired businessman and mechanic for the Camas Prairie Railroad, died Saturday morning at Tri-State Convalescent Ceneter at Clarkston. Cause of death is pending medical certification.

He worked for the Camas Prairie Railroad from 1922 to 1952, and owned and operated a resort at Red River Hot Springs from 1945 to 1952. Upon his retirement from the railroad he went into the dairy business in Lewiston Orchards. He spent 14 years in the dairy business, during which he also owned a rock shop.

In 1966 he moved to Clarkston, where he had since lived, but spent most summers at Elk City, Idaho.

Jacobs was born April 28, 1900, at Uniontown to Bernard Jacobs and Anna Marie Wittman.
In 1906 they moved to Lewiston, where they lived for seven years, and then moved to Big Timber, Mont. He graduated from high school there in 1918 and moved to Lewiston in 1919. He graduated from business colleg at Lewiston in 1920.

He married Mattie (Pat) Gentry at Butte, Mont., March 8, 1924. She survives at their Clarkson home.

He was a past member of the Elks Lodge and was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church at Lewiston. He enjoyed rock collecting and fishing.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, William A. Jacobs Jr. of Lewiston, and three grandchildren.

Five brothers and two sisters died previously.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Merchant Funeral Home at Clarkston with the Rev. Bob Roberts of the Lewiston United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Vineland Cemetery at Clarkston.

The family suggest memorials may be given to the Lewiston United Methodist Church, 1906 Broadview Drive, or to the Cancer Society, P.O. Box 36, Clarkston, Wash. 99403.
