Another Prominent Pioneer Citizen Passed Away
was born in Alabama and came to Texas before the civil war in which he gave his services to the confederacy. He was one of the pioneer citizens of Brazos county, and lent the full measure of the strength and influence of an upright, honorable and industrious life to the upbuilding of the county. He was a member of Reliance Baptist church and a true christian gentlemen beloved by all. He was married to Miss Fannie Hood at Tryon in this county, and her death preceded his. He leaves four sons who are residents of this county, Messrs. James, John, Dave and Joe Lloyd, and one daughter, Miss [sic] Alice Hammond of Taylor county. The furneral [sic] will take place at Reliance church this morning at ll o'clock.
Probably son of Joseph Cowling and Charlotte M. (Stokes) Lloyd and brother to David S. Lloyd buried in Reliance.
