Ignatius "Iggy" Rick, 77, of Pelican Rapids, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2008, in his home on Lake Ida, under the care of family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Iggy was born the son of I.T. and Lillian Rick on Aug. 10, 1930 in Breckenridge, where he attended school and worked on his parent's farm near Brushvale, Minn. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951-53. On Jan. 16, 1955 he married Bertha Anna Hensch. They made their home on a small dairy farm near Everdell, Minn. Later they moved to Breckenridge, until 1963, when they moved to Moorhead.

In 1967, Iggy co-founded Moorhead Electric, where he worked for the company he loved until his retirement in 1997. He was extremely saddened by the death of his wife "Bert" in 2003. Iggy enjoyed his family and friends, business acquaintances, working with his boys on the farm, and especially playing pinochle with his friends. "Just one more game," he would often say. He will be missed by many.

Iggy is survived by his children, Robert (Barb) Rick of Fergus Falls, Debbie (Stephen) Woodstrom of Moorhead, David Rick of Pelican Rapids, Cindy (Jeff) Bruns of Fargo, Carla (Dave) Brees of Milwaukee, Wis., Bernie (Stacy) Rick of Pelican Rapids and Bill Rick of Pelican Rapids; 12 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sisters, Dorothy (John) Kotalik of Coon Rapids, Minn., RoseAnn Brink of Oceanside, Calif., and Mary Jane (Fred) Crafton of El Segundo, Calif.; brothers, Gerald (Betty) Rick of Breckenridge, Paul (Nona) Rick of Pelican Rapids, John (Ginny) Rick of Wahpeton, N.D., and Joe Rick of Breckenridge; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Iggy in death were his wife, Bertha "Bert" Rick; daughter, Bonni Rick; parents, I.T. and Lillian Rick; sister, Arlene Stockmoe; and two brothers, Edward and Michael Rick.

Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 21, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
