James Cosson, age 51, his 2 children, James Cosson, Jr, 14; Winnie Cosson 12, Alfred Cosson 45, (brother to James), were all killed when stick of bombs fall near home of James, as Eglin bomber misses target. Injured were Mrs. Alfred Cosson, 45; Mrs James Cosson 48; 3 sons of Mr. & Mrs. James Cosson, Idee 13, Frank 10, & Thomas 4, injuries to the younger boy were not serious. Tragedy was Friday evening while the two brothers and their families were visiting. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Pleasant Ridge Church, interment followed in cemetery. All four were buried in a row, Albert being separated from the other three by another burial.

Seems that this James may have been born in 1893 instead of 1883. His age is given as 51 at the time of his death, and that fits when the age of his kids is considered. However, 1944 - 1883 is 61, not 51, so there seems to be a mistake somewhere.

James was killed in that bombing that took place at his house in Aug of 1944, along with three others. All four were buried at the same time, and Franklin Cosson, James' son, still living as of April 2018, recently spoke of that funeral and how the woods all around Pleasant Ridge were filled with vehicles, so many people were coming to attend the funeral of those four people, two of them children. What a very sad event that must have been! Frank did not attend the funeral of his father and other kin, as he was in a hospital with his injuries.

Just a note about the dates, and a bit of history from a contemporary of those times.
