Blanche Tibbs 86, of Petersburg died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at Sunny Acres Home, Petersburg.
She was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Green County, Ky., the daughter of James W. "Joe" and Eugenia Walker Despain. She married Joseph William Tibbs in 1935 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Petersburg; he died in 1982. Mrs. Tibbs was a homemaker, formerly working at West Food Store, A&P Store, state of Illinois and the Menard County Fair. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Petersburg.
Survivors: four daughters, Mrs. George (Colleen) Baum of Petersburg, Mrs. John (Betty Jo) Epplin of Orion, Patricia Ann Miller of Charleston and Mrs. Larry (Barbara Jane) Haynie of Fort Defiance, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: Mass, 10 a.m. Monday, St. Peter Catholic Church, Petersburg. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Petersburg.
