Alice W. Racer, 73, of Osage died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the Hennepin County Medical Center, Burn Unit.

She was born to Gust and Minnie (Walholt)?Lindbom Aug. 30, 1934 on their farm in Shell Lake Township of Becker County. She attended Dist. 82 country school near her home. As a young woman, she moved to Chicago, where she did production work at Bethlehem Tool and Die Co.

On June 30, 1957, she married John Edward Racer at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Snellman. After spending their first two years of marriage in Chicago, they purchased the family dairy farm in Shell Lake Township. While he was gone working road and bridge construction throughout the region, she milked and cared for their dairy herd and put up the necessary crops to feed their herd.

After he started his own construction company, they sold the dairy herd and she managed the office and did all the bookwork for their business for the 35 years they operated it.

She was a longtime member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman.

Surviving are her husband; her son, Kevin (Shellie); daughter, Robin (Jamie) Dotseth, all of Osage; three grandchildren: two sisters, Elnora Mattson and Annie Nieminen, all of Osage; two brothers, Ralph (Senia) Lindbom and Harold (Mary) Lindbom, all of Osage; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Signe Ennis and Gladys Dormanen.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 25 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church with Rev. Bill Neumann officiating.

Honorary casket bearers: Harold Lindbom, Edward Ennis, Chester Dormanen, Nicholas and Samantha Gibson and Tabitha Racer.

Casket bearers: Jody and Joshua Yliniemi, Robert Ennis, Michael Gibson, Shawn Jensen and Dean Drewes.

Interment: in the Racer family plot at the Snellman Cemetery.
