Steven Allen Sitz, 53, of Park Rapids died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Innovis Health, Fargo Hospital.

He was born Nov. 10, 1954, the youngest of seven children, to Ernest and Violet (Archibald) Sitz in Park Rapids. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.

Upon graduation from Park Rapids High School, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He remained there for several years following his honorable discharge, working as a mechanic.

Returning to Park Rapids, he joined the Minnesota National Guard and was later deployed to Desert Storm. During his 16 years of military service, he earned a number of medals and certificates.

He was employed with Kostal Ford as a service advisor and later worked for several employers, including his father doing masonry work.

Surviving are three sisters, LaVonne Edelman of Lake George, Janiece Hitter of Milton-Freewater, OR and Jane (Dave) Rautio-Beck of Park Rapids as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers, Chuck, David and Tom.

Funeral: Monday, July 21 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Rev. Loren Ferch officiating.

Honorary casket bearers: Dwight Buckendahl, Norman and Larry Tobias and Troy Cheney.

Casket bearers: Garrett Rautio, Jordan Sitz, Bart Glatzmaier, Steve Dexter, Gene Forbes and Gary Baker.

Park Rapids Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post 212, the Star of the North Marine Corps League and bugler Ray Vaadeland provided military honors.

Interment: Henrietta Cemetery south of Dorset.
