His remains were sent to Kensett Cemetery in Kensett, Arkansas for burial. At that time, Gertrude decided to purchase six burial plots at Brookside Cemetery which at that time was in far north Houston. These plots were to be for herself and her children if needed, costing $50. a piece. Gertrude decided not to be buried at Brookside Cemetery and instead be buried next to her daughter-in-law's parents, Herman and Homer Theum at Forest Park, Lawndale.
