Grace Earline Rich (called Grace) was the eldest child and daughter of Walter Rich (1877-1958) and Mary-Elizabeth Wagner Rich (1876-1960). She married Ransom Scott Respess ca. 1923 and gave birth to three children, Scott Laverne Respess (1924-1998), Ruby Respess Sharp (1926-1999), and Ralph Gillespie Respess (1928-1995). Grace was featured in a local paper for having built the family home herself. She was a postal carrier until poor health due to diabetes forced her to retire. She was blind for the last 15 years of her life and was cared for by her husband until his death in 1971. She passed away from renal failure due to diabetes at the age of 76 years.
