Obituary for George Clifford Warner
Source: "The Syracuse Journal", April 19, 1978

"George Clifford Warner was born Nov. 28, 1905, near Kinsley, Kans., to Ed and Fannie Warner. He grew up in around Edwards county, Kansas, and graduated from Endign High School in 1926.

"Following his graduation he went to Dexter, Ore., where he was engaged in logging business. There he was severly injured. Following recovery he met and married Thelma Dyck Nov. 7, 1930, at Hutchinson.

"Joining this family were two daughters, Patricia Louise (Pat) born Oct. 31, 1931, and Carol Nadine, born Feb. 26, 1940 and three sons, Richard LeRoy (Bud), born Oct. 4, 1934, Garry Lee, born May 15, 1943 and Larry Dean, born Jan. 26, 1945. Two children preceded him in death, Carol Nadine dying shortly after birth and Larry dying in the U.S. Air Force in Thailand.

"Most of his life was spent in farming. During the depression of the '30's, he and his wife and family spent a year and a half at Dexter, Ore. Moving back to Kansas (Kansas county), he farmed until 1967 when failing health forced him into retirement. He and his wife moved into Syracuse, where he lived until his death April 7, 1978.

"He left the greatest legacy any man can leave who enjoyed so much a simple way of life, a closely knit family, who always enjoyed the closeness they shared. Though not always agreeing with his way and ideas they loved him dearly and worked hard to attain the ideaals he cherished.

"Survivors include his wife, Thelma; daughter, Pat Scott of Amarillo, Tex.; sons, Bud of Ulysses and Garry of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two brothers, Olen of Syracuse and Harold of Sheridan, Ore.; a sister, Edna of Wapato, Wash.; and many other relatives and friends."
