Helen Conner Jones, 74, of Vinton, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2008. Helen was a longtime member of Vinton Baptist Church and the chancel choir. She was a retired hairdresser with over 50 years of service. Helen leaves behind a lot of good friends and loyal customers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Perry Jones; a son, Kenneth William Jones; and a brother, Elmo Conner. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Jones Shea and Judson Edgar Shea, of Vinton; three grandsons, Benjamin Jones, of Tennessee, Mark Jones and wife, Amanda, and their two children, of Tennessee, and J.D. Shea, of Vinton; sisters and brothers, Henry Conner and wife Martha, of Faber, Virginia, Mary Reynolds and husband, Robert, of Kuna, Idaho, Betty Barrett and husband, Bill, of Vinton, Juanita Gibson and husband, Wayne, of Roanoke, Reggie Conner and wife, Cathy, of Shawsville, and Linda Byer and husband, Wilber, of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Blanche Conner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at Vinton Baptist Church with Dr. Robert L. Wayne officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made in Helen's name to Vinton Baptist Church Music Ministry. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 20, 2008, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
