Funeral services for Leroy Lovell, 72, of Athens will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Hammock officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cemetery. He died on March 3, 1998 at Huntsville Hospital East. He was born on November 3, 1925 near Athens to Willis Jackson and Mary Liddie (Thompson) Lovell. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retiree of Limestone County Board of Education. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances Diane Lovell. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Virginia (Blankenship) Lovell; his son, Gary Lovell of Athens; his daughters, Dale White, Debrah Durham and Shirley Dollins, all of Athens; his brother, Brady Orville Lovell of La Vergne, Tennessee; his sister, Ella Ree Coffman of Athens; and six grandchildren.
