Three grandsons as of 1992: Matthew Todd Jernigan of NY, Chuck Carver of Pass Christian and Scott Carver of Bessemer, and one great-granddaughter Samantha Jernigan of Biloxi. Born in Plentywood, Montana. His parents moved to MT from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where they were born. Later, they moved to Pass Christian, MS, in August 1934.

Ollie Croushorn Harshbarger, his mother, was a daughter of William Frederick Croushorn and Mary Catharine Switzer Croushorn of Augusta County, Mt. Sidney, Virginia - they are buried in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery at Mt. Sidney with many other Croushorns. Her siblings were: John (who died in a hunting accident at age 19); my grandfather James Wm. Croushorn; Charles D Croushorn (no children); Fanny or Fannie (has descendants); and Mary (has descendants).

Tallis Harshbarger was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army.

He and my late mother, Evalena Croushorn Heflin, played together as children when Ollie Croushorn Harshbarger returned to VA to visit relatives. She often stayed with my grandfather, her brother, James Wm. Croushorn. My mother and Tallis corresponded over the years and Tallis's widow stayed in touch until my mother died in late 1993.
