Tribute: Joan R. Beaudoin, home health aide
Mark Behan
A strong and caring woman, Joan R. (Stoessel) Beaudoin worked as a home health aide and nursing assistant for 32 years.
"She mainly enjoyed the interaction with people," said Mrs. Beaudoin's daughter, Helen Marie Diaz of Haverhill. "As a home health aide, she liked talking to, and taking care of, people."
Mrs. Beaudoin also enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her husband, retired North Andover firefighter Robert R. Beaudoin, were married for 54 years and were "high school sweethearts."
"They were together for 57 years and didn't spend a lot of time apart over the years. They used to enjoy taking trips on bus tours and going to dances," Helen Marie Diaz said. "My mother loved being with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was very important to her."
In fact, Mrs. Beaudoin and her husband flew to Germany for the birth of their grandson, Shawn Diaz.
On Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, Joan R. (Stoessel) Beaudoin of Haverhill passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family.
"My son is 22 and he still remembers going to plays in Portsmouth with his grandmother when he was very young," said Mrs. Beaudoin's daughter, Elizabeth Remmes of Bradford. "The grandchildren all loved her very much."
Born in Lawrence, Mrs. Beaudoin also lived in North Andover, where she graduated from Johnson High School. She had been a resident of Haverhill for the past 15 years.
Mrs. Beaudoin enjoyed knitting, reading, and doing crafts, said her daughter, Elizabeth Remmes.
"She was a very strong woman," Helen Marie Diaz said, "and will be missed by everyone."
Mrs. Beaudoin is survived by her husband, Robert R. Beaudoin of Haverhill; her children, Helen Marie Diaz of Haverhill, Roberta Blomquist and her husband Eric of Plaistow, N.H., Elizabeth Remmes and her husband Joseph of Bradford and John and his wife Tracy (Kothman) of North Andover. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shawn Diaz and his wife Amy of Manchester, Kerri Maragioglio and her husband Frank of Plaistow, Daniel and Robert Remmes of Bradford, and Jacob and Brian Beaudoin of North Andover; two great-grandsons, Gavin Diaz and Frankie Maragioglio; and her sister and brother-in-law, Carl and Jackie Langlois of North Andover. She was predeceased by her son, Richard M. Beaudoin, who passed away in 1995.
