MONUMENT- Mrs.Ellen Jane Shope, who observed her 75th birthday last Sunday, Monument, widow of John Bowin Shope, died at 1:05 pm yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Blair Heverly, Monument. She had suffered a heart condition and was in the Lock Haven Hospital several weeks this summer. Born in Boggs Township, Centre County, the daughter of Jack and Sarah Watkins Smith, she had resided in this community for the past 45 years. She served as a mail carrier of 20 years. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church. Married twice, she is survived by seven sons. Raymond H., Floyd and Theodore Shope, Monument; David D. Shope, Renovo; Oscar Heaton, Draketown; Fred Heaton, Orviston; and Albert W. Heaton, Beech Creek; in addition to Mrs. Heverly, four other daughters, Mrs. Willis Mayes, Mrs. George Major, Hubbard O.; Mrs. Mary Bainey, Blanchard, and Mrs. Samuel Ferranto, Kane. Also surviving are six step-sons, Boyd Shope, Philipsburg, George Shope, Binghamton, NY.; John Shope, Salona; Fount Shope, Williamsport, and Clyde and Clem Shope, Elmira, NY.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. William Walker, Lock Haven, Mrs. Lee Stephans, Williamsport; and Mrs Cleil Martin, Charleston, SC; a brother Frank Smith, Lock Haven RD., three sisters, Mrs Ida Ramser, Swissdale, Mrs. John Anderson, Curwensville, and Mrs Elizabeth Woodhall, Elmira, NY.; 86 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. Services were held in the Monument Church of Christ with the Rev. Paul Lilly officiating. Burial was in Summit Hill Cemetery at Howard RD.
