Austin was the son of Henry Hiram Bingham and Sarah Jane "Walker" Bingham. He married Margaret Rebecca Gable on 13 Mar 1898 in Calhoun Co., MS.
They were the parents of seven children:

Sarah Elenor [Farmer]
Arthur Lee
Collin Wesley
Felton Louis
Nora Victoria [Dill]
Willie Esthema [Jennings]
who are all interred in Greenfield Cemetery in Glen Allan, Washington Co., MS.

Austin's father, Henry Hiram, served in the Civil War and was captured October 29, 1863 at the Battle of Lookout Mountain. He was sent to Rock Island Prison in Rock Island, IL, where he died March 19, 1864 and was buried on the grounds of the prison.
After his father's death in 1864, Austin went to live with his grandfather, William A. Bingham, in Chickasaw Co., MS. Austin was an only child.
